We had a wonderful Christmas this year. It was so fun to have a new little one during the holidays. Eli was a lot of fun this year. He was a little overwhelmed at all the gifts because he didn’t know which toy to play with first. We spend Christmas Eve with my parents, Christmas morning at home, Christmas afternoon at my grandmothers and then left on the 27th to spent a week in Texas. It sounds busy and it was, but so much fun! We loved spending so much time with our families. Some of Eli’s favorite toys he got was his train table, a helmet, a flashlight and a plastic tool set. Madilynn was born on Wednesday, October 26th at 10: 29am. She weighed 7 lbs and was 17 inches long. After not feeling good on Tuesday night I didn’t think anything of it because I had not been feeling good for the last week. I went to bed on the couch as usual and couldn’t sleep finally waking up at 2:30 thinking I might be in labor. After waiting around a bit I finally woke up Landon and told him this might be it but he said ok and fell back to sleep. 20 minutes later I said I really think we might want to finish packing our bags and getting ready. We called the Guthries at 4:00 am (our neighbors and friends from church) to come over and sleep at our house until Eli wakes up. And we left for the hospital at 4:30. I was really unsure if I was in labor or not. My contractions were about 10 minutes apart and inconsistent and I didn’t want to go to the hospital and they send me home. We live less then 5 minutes from the hospital but I didn’t want to wait around too long because I had such a fast labor with Eli I didn’t want this baby to drop out of me on the way. : ) I knew once my contractions started really going that it wouldn’t be too long until she arrived. When we got to the hospital I wasn’t ready to go in yet so we ran by McDonalds for Landon to get coffee and a biscuit and decided to play checkers in the car and walked around the parking lot for about an hour and half. We finally checked in and got to our room at 6:30 am and contractions were getting closer to 5 minutes apart and consistent. I knew I wanted to try to go natural again and not get any pain medicine so I was prepared for the work ahead. When they asked me my pain tolerance at that point on a scale of 1-10, 4 being I need medicine and 10 meaning I want to cut my leg off, I said a 2, knowing that I wasn’t ready for medicine yet. They later told me no one rates their pain as a 2 and normally stays in the hospital and doesn’t get sent home. However, once they hooked me up to the monitor I was actually having contractions every 2 minutes and feeling the harder ones every 5 minutes. When we arrived our Doctor was on call and we feel so blessed to have him with us over the past 9 months. He prayed over the delivery with us and was a great encouragement to see him. However, it was time to change doctors on call and he wasn’t going to be able to deliver Madilynn. I started out at 3 centimeters when I arrived and went to 10 centimeters by 10:00 and she was born at 10:29 am. We had a wonderful doctor deliver and everything went as smooth as possible. Landon did a GREAT job helping me through each contraction and was a real big help at the end while pushing. I’m so grateful for a healthy and wonderful baby girl!!

It’s a GIRL!!

After the fourth ultrasound they are a bit more confident it is a little girl and it was pretty clear to me!! So, in honor of bringing a little girl into our home I started sewing right away. Here is a picture of my first dress below. We are still trying to decide on a name. I’m 33 weeks pregnant and not much longer to go!! I’ll post a picture soon of my pregnant self. I have definitely been a slacker at taking photos of myself with baby number 2!

a girl!!!! Maybe. After the third ultrasound they said it looks like a girl, but we aren’t 100% sure. This little one loves to keep its legs together but it seems like ‘it’ might be a ‘she’. I would have to say I have had a hard time waiting to find out. My first ultrasound was 10 weeks ago and they could not see anything. So now, I’m 28 weeks and not much longer to go!! Everything else looks healthy and good.

What I’ve been up too lately…

Obviously not blogging, however we have been doing lots of cleaning out, painting and moving things around in our house (pictures to come) and I have stayed busy. On top of that I have moved my sewing machine from upstairs to downstairs and have started sewing lots!! Here is the newest creation that Eli is sporting….Click to view slideshow.

Preston life…

4 months passes quickly! It has been way too long since I have updated the blog. Since Eli has turned one we have been busy!! He has been busy and we have been busy chasing him around. Summer has definitely arrived in Jackson, we have had temperatures in the upper 90′s for a week a half and it is hot!! I’m so excited about summer with Eli as it really is his first summer to explore all the fun things that comes with hot weather. We already started it off with a trip to Texas to spend with Landon’s family and he got to play alot in the water. At first he was a bit hesitant but then jumped right in and loved it!!! We had a wonderful time with his family and got to meet our new newphew Landry. Eli is starting to talk alot, well actually he has always talked since I can remember but he is actually saying words and it is so fun!! Some of his favorites are “Ka-Ker” (cracker), ”Mo” (more), “ball”, “dog”, and dada. He is really starting to repeat what we say and it is so cute. He basically can only say one syllable at a time which probably means I’m the only one who can make out his words but it is still adorable.

In other news, Eli will soon be a big brother!! I can’t believe I haven’t noted this as blog worthy news but I have felt SO good this pregnancy compared to Eli that I have second guessed whether I am actually pregnant or not. It is pretty obvious now as my little belly is starting to pop. I am almost 5 months pregnant due on October 28th and we are excited to find out what this little one is! In fact we went for an ultrasound and this little one is a bit modest and did not want to show us what it may be. Either it is a modest little girl or I am getting another little stinker. Can you imagine me with two boys?? I just have never thought of that– growing up in a very girly home with three girls and pink everywhere. Either way I think Eli will be a great brother or sister and definietly will enjoy the interaction as he is a people person!
